Travis Waldschmidt
Originally from Texas, Travis is now a “real" New Yorker having lived in New York City for over 13 years. He made his Broadway debut in Wicked and soon went on to Matilda where he had an amazing 4-year run. After Matilda Travis originated the role of Jeff in the Tony-nominated musical Groundhog Day. Following the show’s closing he landed a role in Hello, Dolly! performing with legends Bette Midler, Donna Murphy and Bernadette Peters. After Hello Dolly! Travis made his way over to Studio 54 where he joined the original revival cast of Kiss Me, Kate! Thereafter he had the good fortune of performing in La Traviata at The Metropolitan Opera House. Travis toured outside NYC with productions of 9 to 5 The Musical, West Side Story, High School Musical 1 & 2, and A Chorus Line. Travis has been seen on The Tony Awards as well as The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
Alongside performing, Travis was associate choreographer/performer at Carnegie Hall starring James Taylor. Travis Co-Choreographed the film, Frances Ha, where he worked alongside famed directors Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach. He also had the privilege of making his MUNY debut as associate choreographer for Matilda the Musical. Originally rooted in the contemporary dance scene with a BFA in Dance Performance from Southern Methodist University, Travis moved to NYC with ambitions of becoming a concert dancer. In time, he landed a job with his dream company, Shen Wei Dance Arts, and began his journey into becoming a contemporary performer. Travis is Co-Artistic director of Sexy Beast NYC, a video dance company that has been featured in various blogs and film festivals.
